🌊 Coogee to Bondi Walk: Our Scenic Reverse Route Was So Worth It

We usually hear about the famous Bondi to Coogee Walk, but we did it the other way around — and honestly, it was such a good choice. Starting in Coogee meant the walk felt mostly downhill, which made the whole experience a little easier and way more enjoyable.

We were really thankful for the weather because it turned out to be a beautiful day with a bit of sun and not too much cold. That made the whole walk even better, especially with all the stops we made to take photos and appreciate the views. The coastline is absolutely stunning, and every turn feels like another postcard moment.

At long last, I was finally able to take a photo with the Bondi Lifeguard Tower — and as a fan of Bondi Rescue, that was such a special little moment for me.

The coastal route is known for its scenic clifftop views, beaches, bays, and rock pools, with highlights like Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly, and Gordon’s Bay along the way. It’s about 6 km one way, but don’t be surprised if it takes much longer when you keep stopping for photos, coffee, and ocean views.

  • Distance: Around 6 km one way.
  • Time: Usually 2–3 hours, but ours took almost 5 hours because we kept stopping.
  • Best for: Anyone who enjoys scenic walks, ocean views, and a relaxed pace.

This walk has some stairs, uneven surfaces, and sections that can be a bit challenging, so a pram for children is not really advisable. The path is beautiful, but it is not the smoothest route for wheels.

Doing the walk from Coogee to Bondi gave us a lovely “downhill” feeling and made the whole experience more relaxed. The views were amazing the entire way, and taking our time made the walk feel like a proper little adventure rather than just a transfer from one beach to another.

Start early, bring water, and wear comfortable shoes — then give yourself extra time to stop, snap photos, and enjoy the coastline instead of rushing through it.
